BRASS pendants - pair of hanging lamps by Svend Aage Holm Sørensen and produced by Holm Sørensen & Co. in the 1970s. Attractive pair of Brutalist style pendants in RARE excellent vintage condition!
Two cylinder shaped brass pendants, each decorated with four serrated rectangular brass pieces, attached by screws to ensure a small distance to the cylinder. The serrated rectangles features the signature flame-treatment of Holm Sørensen, that brings out a wondrous rainbow specter of colors and gives each of them an expression of their one. The open top and bottom provides a good flow of light upwards and downwards, while the rectangles allows for light to escape between and the cylinders, leaving a warm and soft illumination to the surrounding space.
The contrast between the shiny brass with straight lines and the matte flame-treated brass with serrated lines really makes these pendants pop and gives them another expression than most Holm Sørensen lights. As a pair they would fit perfectly in a medium sized dining room setting or hung off set accenting a corner in the sitting area - providing an authentic eclectic mid-century feeling.

Background info:
Holm Sørensen & Co. was founded by designer Svend Aage Holm Sørensen (1913-2004) in the mid-1950s. He started the production with desk lamps, but a few years later, Svend Aage Holm Sørensen invented his own special process, where he acid and flame treated brass to bring out a wondrous specter of colors – this special process is today his signature and tell-signs to lights missing the label.
Holm Sørensen created his sculptural acid and flame treated brass lights up through the 1960s, but also a number of colored glass wall sconces are known to be produced by Holm Sørensen.
